Delete your account and your data
This page describes exactly what you can delete yourself today, and exactly what you cannot. We would rather be precise than reassuring.
Deleting your local data is available in the app today. Automated deletion of server-side account records is not yet implemented. Until it is, account-level deletion is handled by contacting support@mellow.example. This is a known gap and is tracked as a release blocker.
1. Delete your data in the app
You can remove all of the data Mellow holds on your device at any time. This is the action that covers most of what Mellow knows about you.
- Open Mellow and go to Settings.
- Open Privacy (or the data controls group in Settings).
- Choose Delete all local data.
- Confirm when asked. This cannot be undone.
If a list or summary is shown before the final confirmation, read it — it names what is about to be removed.
2. What deleting local data removes
Choosing Delete all local data clears the following from your device:
- Your drink log and every logged entry
- Your night sessions and their timelines
- Your night-state readings and estimate ranges
- Your subjective check-ins
- Any manual breathalyzer readings you entered
- The inputs you provided for estimates
- Your Drinking Style reading and the personal model built from your nights
- Your anonymous identifier for that device
After this action, Mellow on that device starts again from nothing. There is no undo and no backup held by us.
3. What deleting local data does not remove
If you have used a build of Mellow that creates an account record on our servers, some records live server-side rather than on your device. Deleting local data does not remove those. They are:
| Record | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Account record | An identifier, cohort, status, creation date, a profile snapshot, and your consent flags |
| Access seat | Which seat was claimed and when |
| Operations and audit trail | An operation fingerprint and before/after records of changes |
| Telemetry | Event name, duration, result code, day, cohort |
| Recognition jobs | Job metadata plus the text a recognition model returned. Not your photo. |
| Drink provenance | Which recognition job produced which logged drink |
| Personal model records | Inputs and derived documents behind your personal model |
To be explicit: your photos are not among these. Mellow's servers do not store photos. What can persist is text derived from a photo, such as a drink name the model read.
4. Request account-level deletion
Until in-app account deletion ships, send an email to support@mellow.example with the subject "Delete my account".
Please include:
- The email address or account identifier you used, if you know it;
- Whether you want account deletion or only the removal of specific records.
Do not send identity documents or payment details. We do not need them, and we would rather you did not put them in an email.
What happens after you ask
- We confirm we received your request.
- We verify the request came from the account holder — we may ask a question only the account holder could answer.
- We delete the server-side records listed in section 3.
- We confirm to you when it is done.
TODO A specific handling time for deletion requests must be defined and stated here before publication. We have not invented a number.
5. Delete local data without the app
You can also remove Mellow's local data by deleting the app from your device. Deleting the app removes the app's local storage along with it. Note that this does not cancel a subscription — subscriptions are managed in your App Store account settings.

Automated server-side account deletion is not implemented in the shipping build. The data model is already configured to cascade-delete every related record when an account record is deleted, but no user-facing endpoint or in-app flow exists to trigger it. This must be built and verified before App Store submission, and this page updated to describe the automated flow instead of an email request.
